Nyra Banerjee, also known as Madhuurima, was born on May 14, 1987, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has a younger brother. Nyra's father is a mechanical engineer who once served in the Indian Navy, and her mother was a researcher in the field of virology. She completed her junior college at Tolani College of Commerce, followed by a Bachelor
of Laws with an LLB degree from Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai. Nyra learned Hindustani classical music and ghazal from her mother. She is a trained Kathak dancer. Nyra made her debut in Tollywood, but initially, it didn't help her career. Priyadarshan's Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal (2012) was Nyra's first Bollywood movie alongside known Bollywood actors such as Nana Patekar, Shreyas Talpade Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Asrani, Shakti Kapoor and others. In more than a decade, Nyra has worked in more than twenty
movies. She has worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada movies so far. Nyra also assisted director Tony D'Souza for his movie Azhar, starring Emraan Hashmi, Lara Dutta, Nargis Fakhri, Prachi Desai, Kunaal Roy Kapur and others.
